Longines has a history of over a hundred years, who has always insisted on a work philosophy of best quality. Having made time-continuous innovative efforts, Longines has already become the synonym for precision.

Longines originated in the year 1832 when a watchmaker Auguste Agassiz ran a small-scale watchmaking factory in Saint Lmier. His nephew Ernest Francillon is exactly the one who has found the world famous watch brand.

In the first decade of business, Longines suffered great financial and technical challenges, but all the colleagues in the factory sticked together, going through thick and thin and finally succeeded. The working philosophy of Ernest Francillon is more than simple, that is, Optimum Anufacturing. Longines has won numerous awards and wide recognition by the world for being firm to this principle. Longines has registered a winged hour-glass as its trademark in May 27, 1889 and become one of the a few companies who were the world’s first users of the trademark.

Thanks to the adherence to producing skills, Longines has become the synonym for precision. In 1899, Longines sponsored an Arctic expedition led by Earl Louis Amadeus and provided them with five pocket watches especially designed for various temperature changes in polar area.
