International Watch Company in Schaffhausen, Switzerland is quite the mouthful, isn’t it? There is one word about this watch company, commonly referred to as IWC, that stands out – especially when you consider the fact that it is a Swiss watch company. But International may just be more appropriate for the figures that have made some of Switerzland’s highest quality watches such a success. There is one watch that not only stands out in the company itself, but also in the world of watches. This watch is the newest edition of IWC’s Grande Complication – a series of incredibly long-lasting and correct wristwatches that use science to guarantee the longest correct timekeeping available. It would only take a team such as the one of IWC to make such a stunning timepiece as the Portuguese Grande Complication.

An International Team
International is definitely an appropriate word for such a watch. The company began as an international one, with its American-born founder opening the company in Switzerland in 1868. Teamed with a Swiss watch maker named Johann Heinrich Moser, the company began making exquisite watches. Since then, this Swiss watch company has always had an American flare.

Today, the team still holds international as well. The incredible leather band on this watch is the work of leatherworker and shoemaker Andrea Santoni, and Italian-born craftsman who holds quality above all else. IWC is also responsible for doing something, well, international with the workings of the watch as well. IWC also uses Portuguese seafaring timekeeping as well as Swiss to make the watch more accurate than any available. That kind of teamwork is unique to the company.

About the Watch
IWC watches are exceptional. There are no two ways about it. The quality of these watches, from the inspired Da Vinci set to the brand new couture WWII-inspired Pilot watches, details and design on these watches are always superior. IWC is responsible for the Grande Complication, a unique wristwatch that is more mechanically difficult but guarantees the longest correct timekeeping out of any wristwatch. The Grande Complication joined the Portuguese designsin 2010 to make something so unique that it ended up in museums.

This IWC watch is luxurious in every detail. Not only is it the most correct (guaranteed mechanically sound until 2499), but it is exceptionally well-designed. The inner-workings of this watch contain 75 rubies. In the traditional IWC design of large-faced watches, this round watch is made of red gold and glare-resistant sapphire nestled between beautiful straps of alligator leather. On the larger-than-usual face of the watch is a globe, sketched inside the hour markers. This watch is truly exquisite and superior in design.
